For her solo show at Kunstverein Braunschweig, Anna Ehrenstein engages with international and interlocal collaborators to create new artworks that question the conditions of our social co-existence in the 21st century with power, wit, and urgency.

The first part of the exhibition is dedicated to Ehrenstein's collaboration with Leonidas Emre Pakkan aka OSIRIZ33, rapper, artist, main character and co-author of the series "Hype", and young athletes from the weightlifting club V.f.V. von 1898 Braunschweig e.V. Over the summer, several workshops took place at both the Kunstverein and the sports club. These experiences inform a new video installation of an alternative national anthem.

For the first time Ehrenstein presents the multi-channel video work Chommie - digital closet (2022-2023), which the artist created in Johannesburg (ZA) together with her comrades Brian Montshiwa and Mahube Diseko. In an innovative visual language, they address LGBTIQA+ rights in a globalized world, in a present dominated by Netflix, social media and internet architecture.

What imagined inevitabilities structure digital and physical realities? How do visibility, discrimination and commercialization relate to each other?

The art works reveal unexpected connections and create juxtapositions that offer both concrete and pointed insights into the current intersections and contradictions of diversity and integration discourses, globalization and digital capitalism.
